The opening motive of this piece is the main idea of a tritone and seventh combination. This gives way to some half-step treatment and tries to express a feeling of loss and discontent. The piece is about loss in general but the inspiration for this piece is the feelings I felt after my grandmother had passed away. The piece ends in a moderately satisfying way implying that one can move on but perhaps with new perspectives. This piece is written to be played on any saxophone.
